Plant-Based Diet Consultations for Children

Are you looking for nutritional advice for your child?

Diga33 is here for you. We offer nutritional consultations to parents for their children with a specific focus on vegan or vegetarian diets, but also to all parents and families that are looking for a healthier, more plant-based way of eating.

How can we help you?

Good nutrition plays an important role in several health conditions, many of which start in childhood. Nowadays many children are experiencing health problems, such as chronic constipation, overweight, or high cholesterol levels, which can improve with an appropriate diet. Diga33 offers diet consultations made by a paediatriacian who is specialised on nutrition. Generally, these consultations are provided by nutritionists (who are not medical doctors) or doctors that are not paeditricians. Additionally, very few doctors are specialised on nutrition and, specifically, on plant-based nutrition. A consultation with us could be helpful if you:

No, as long as the diet is well-planned and adequately supplemented. All children, vegan, vegetarian or non-vegetarian should eat a well-balanced diet. Good nutrition in babies and children is essential for their growth and development and all families should read and educate themselves in this area.
Yes, it is. All major medical and dietetic associations (including the British Dietetic Association, the American Academy of Nutrition and Dietitians of Canada) agree that well-planned vegetarian and vegan diets are adequate and feasible in all stages of life, including childhood, pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Many toddlers are very fussy in relation to food: this is usually transient and does not have any negative consequences. However, in a small number of children, this behavior can be a sign of an underlying problem or can interfere with a good nutritional status – it is always good to check with your paediatrician.
Not everybody needs the same supplements. Whether you need any supplements and the type and dose depend on your age, sex, diet, lifestyle and other personal and medical factors. It is a good idea to discuss about this with your doctor or dietitian.
A well-planned plant diet is safe for babies and young children and may offer long-term health benefits compared to other eating patterns. Plant based diets are rich in vitamins, antioxidants and fiber, low in saturated fat and have no cholesterol.
