Dr Miriam Martinez-Biarge qualified as a medical doctor in 1999. She trained in Paediatrics and Neonatal Medicine from 2000 to 2004 at La Paz Hospital in Madrid, Spain. She obtained her PhD in Paediatrics at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in 2009. She currently works as an Honorary Consultant Neonatologist & Research Fellow at Imperial College (Queen Charlotte’s and Hammersmith Hospital- QCHH). She likes clinical research and works with several research groups in UK, Spain and other European countries. She also has a private practice in Spain as a neonatologist and developmental paediatrician (Hospital Ruber Internacional).

After finishing her training in Paediatrics, she worked as a neonatologist in the Neonatal Department of La Paz University Hospital in Madrid until 2008. During that time she received special training in neonatal neurology.

Dr Martínez-Biarge first came to UK in 2008 to do a fellowship in Perinatal Neurology and Neurodevelopmental Follow-up at Imperial College London. Since 2013, she has been working in the Paediatric Department at QCHH. She specialises in the follow up of infants and young children who have been born prematurely, who have had neurological problems around the time of birth, or who are at risk of neurodevelopmental impairments.
